The Half Life

26 Nov

She lay at the the edge of sunlight
Reaching out – as it caught the tips of her fingers
She came to know now a common bond
With those who walk a thin line between half lives
Laid bare and writhing, aching –
To not encounter the bow of her own head
That weighs down her every cell
Once an innocent walking on air
And now –
Unforgiving to her love – her tarnished heart
Trapped and achingly weary with burden
Return her to that innocent gaze
Where the stars were but hers
And all hope was not lost
To catch even one judging eye
A cast to end all – so
Devastating and crushing to her existence
As if a thousand arrows pierce and hit her heart at once
Not hers to know how to feel – nor how to not love
Dark is the day and her heart follows the half light
As if there were only to be perpetual darkness
